Spoken Dialogue Technology, NOT Speech Recognition Technology

A human-computer interaction usng voice relies on speech recognition technology to analyze human voice sound waves to recognize spoken language and convert it into text as input.

However, in order to achieve natural, free spoken interaction between a human and a computer, the following components are needed on top of a speech recognition : A parser to analyze the recognized sentence and extract its meaning, a dialogue manager to decide the system' behavior and response, and a natural language generator, to convert the systems' response into natural language. These three are collectively called a speech dialogue system and that is what ATOM Spoken Dialogue SDK supports to develop.

The ATOM Spoken Dialogue SDK integrates with any third party speech recognition/ text-to-speech software (integrated with Microsot speech softwares on Windows XP and Vista) and develops a free, natural speech interface effectively and quickly.
